Open Sauce Meals

Brand Identity, Packaging, Stationery and Website

Seafairer want to change the way people think about seafood. They've put those that catch it and the sea that nurtures it at the heart of everything they do. They don’t do salmon or prawns, but they do amazing things with crab and dab. They’ve made dinner quick, easy and guilt-free.

Working closely with their founder, I created an identity that was honest, bold and had an enduring character that was impossible to ignore. Everything from the base palette of blues and typography to the stencil illustrations and patterns took inspiration from the hand painted signs and graphics seen around the harbour.

Despite being a start-up, they had big ambitions, so the packaging was designed to clearly communicate on-shelf from the outset — celebrating the product’s star ingredient, shouting about the importance of sustainability in our seas, all wrapped up in a design system that could be easily adapted to new products as the range expanded.

The successful launch of their first product, Crab Linguine Stir-In Sauce, saw them stocked in local delis and sold at various markets across London, as well as being trialled in Costcutter.
